Women with Narcissistic Mothers

Our mothers are our mirrors, role models, and validators of our emotions. They teach us about what it means to love and be loved by another person. A narcissistic mother is not capable of empathy and does not see her daughter as a separate individual—therefore, the mother never accepts and cherishes her daughter for just being herself. Daughters of narcissistic mothers often grow up feeling unlovable, invalidated, and never “good enough.” In their relationships, they are frequently “people-pleasers,” as they have learned that this is required of them in order to be loved.

This therapy group is designed to help these adult daughters understand and heal from the effects of having narcissistic mothers. In a safe, supportive, and confidential environment, participants in this group will explore the many impacts of maternal narcissism, learn to set healthy boundaries, engage in effective self-care, and reclaim their lives.

The group will take place on Monday evenings from 5:30-7:00 in downtown Santa Barbara.
